Tabi and Kleinschmidt Partner to Automate Freight Quotes

Tabi Connect and Kleinschmidt have partnered to automate freight quoting, the companies announced on September 14. The integration connects Kleinschmidt’s Intelligence Network with Tabi’s pricing engine, sending quote requests directly into Tabi where a brokerage’s rules are applied before a rate is returned to the shipper.

According to the companies, this can reduce the time brokers spend on quotes and provide a consistent way to apply pricing strategies. Tabi’s Pricing Logic Engine allows brokerages to set rules based on factors like customer, lane, equipment type, and market conditions. The system then automatically applies these rules to incoming requests.

Freight brokerage is more crowded than it's ever been, and margins keep getting thinner, so speed and consistency are what actually separate the brokers who win from the ones who don't, said Ricky Gonzalez, CEO of Tabi Connect.

Combining Pricing with Capacity Data

The partnership also links Tabi with Kleinschmidt's Capacity IQ, a predictive freight-capacity platform. Capacity IQ analyzes over 150,000 loads moving across North America daily to predict where trucks are likely to become available. Kleinschmidt says the platform uses tender insights and predictive analytics to identify carriers likely to have capacity near a specific pickup location before they unload.

This gives brokers an additional signal for pricing. A broker can factor in expected carrier availability in a particular market before setting a rate, rather than waiting until after submitting a quote.

"Tabi helps brokers consistently apply their own pricing strategy to every opportunity," said Dan Heinen, president and CEO of Kleinschmidt. "Combined with the Kleinschmidt Intelligence Network, it can dramatically shorten the time between receiving a quote request and responding."

Tabi's Existing Network and Performance

The partnership expands Tabi's network of freight platform connections. Tabi currently connects with over 88 shipper Transportation Management System (TMS) platforms, bid boards, and freight marketplaces. The company provided a breakdown of its connection types.

Connection TypeNumber of IntegrationsTypical Quote Return Time
Native API Integrations17Around 3 seconds
Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Connections7135 to 50 seconds

Tabi says its platform is used by more than 100 logistics companies, including over 20 of the Top 100 U.S. Brokerages. The company processes more than 1 million quotes per month. Its broader platform is designed to capture quote opportunities from shipper platforms, APIs, email, and other sources, apply a brokerage's pricing rules, and return a rate. Tabi also connects with freight rating and market-data providers including DAT, Greenscreens, C4, Sonar, and Truckstop.

Kleinschmidt's Integration Role

For Kleinschmidt, this partnership builds on its existing role as an integration provider for transportation and supply chain companies. The company provides managed Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), API, and B2B integration services that connect businesses with their trading partners.

Kleinschmidt acquired eBase Solutions in May to expand its integration capabilities, aiming to combine its external B2B connectivity with eBase's internal enterprise integration. The Tabi partnership brings these connectivity capabilities into the freight brokerage pricing process, linking incoming quote requests with automated pricing and predictive capacity information.

The capacity data flowing into pricing means brokers can quote with more confidence, not just faster, Gonzalez said. Miami-based Tabi Connect provides freight rate management and quoting automation technology, while Kleinschmidt provides managed integration services across the supply chain.
